Texas Star DX500 and high SWR
I have a Texas Star DX500 (non variable) amp that I have been running for about 6 years now, trouble free. Recently, the amplfier would throw the SWR's off the scale when turned on. I have checked all grounds, changed coax jumpers and coax to antenna, checked the antenna mount, etc, and found no issues. I also bought a new meter, and it reads high as well. Took the amp to a local tech, and he saw the same thing on his bench.
He does not have a spectrum analyzer, but said it looked...

Forum is acting strange again.

Sirio Turbo 5000pl
Other operators and myself included have done swap out comparisons with the Wilson 1000 and the Serio turbo 5000 PL out performs the Wilson both in receive and transmit. And it screwed right onto my original Wilson magnetic mount. And yes, it stays put.

DX-959B 10.240 VCO Refference Circuit
Im still messing around with my new DX-959b and I checked the VCO circuit and it was set at 10.245. Is that off far enough to cause a problem with the PLL? I dialed it back to 10.240 just in case.

148 shorts out with antenna ground
Hey guys,
I got a weird problem with one of my Cobra 148s. Whenever I hook up the antenna ground the channel indicator goes off as if something is shorting. I'm gonna check it out when I get home but in the meanwhile I'd like to hear your ideas as to what may be wrong.

Ar 10 wipes the floor with a99
Replaced my a99 up about 38 feet in top a oak tree.with no radials on 5 foot of mast with no ground plane kit i did fairly well talked most of the world with 400 watts peak power in 2014 with great cycle 24 conditions.i recently put a aluminum ar 10 ringo in the same spot and my rx got much better and quiet and great dx results and local compared to a99 withhorrible 2017 zero. Sunspots.in my situation needing a no radial vertical the ar 10 beats the imax and a99 for local and dx up 30 feet...

Maco V58 model
The DB, I think we briefly talked about the problems with modeling this antenna before.
Do you have a model of the Maco V58 that includes the physical coil and shows a good match for this 5/8 wave antenna?
If not, have you modeled it using the 4Nec2 matching feature?
Either way can you give me some tips on modeling this design?
My model below that I think is set to the specs shows a good impedance but the reactance shows capacitive at -131.4 ohms, so the 5.5" inch...

YAESU FT-1000d help,

When i go to use LSB on my yaesu ft-1000d. There is no receive i have full output power. On USB it works as it should. Any ideals of what the cause could be and where i should be looking? I was thinking maybe the if filter could be going bad. I am no technician that is why i am asking for help. 73,

Ground loop noise after installing schottky diodes in cobra 29 ltd chrome
So after installing schottky diodes in a cobra 29 ltd chrome, I get a loud buzzing noise from receiver and the meter shows a couple S points with the nb/anl on. With nb/anl off it sounds normal. I only get the noise with the chromes. I have installed in cobra 29 ltd classic, 25 ltd classic and lx with no problems. This loud buzzing noise has occurred on three different brand new chromes. Anybody else have this issue?

CX3000 REALLY?!
Why would anyone want 5 - 7kw? All that for an s-unit + over a kw? Oh, I know. So one can talk point to point with the other station running 5k who's 300 miles away. Just pick up your phone and call the guy. Skip/DX reasons? I've heard stations pushing 300 talk over one's pushing 2k. Could 5k improve you chances of making contacts?
