Toptek PA 500

I have a toptek pa 500 and cannot get 500 watts of it for 50 watts input ssb on 14 mhz into a dummy load...., amp is clean inside with no burnouts visible, there are adjustment points, but having no info on the said unit, i am reluctantant to play with it.,anyone have any ideas?

I tried to do a Google search for my testimonial regarding the terrible service I got at Walcott CB shop back in 2004 and I was unable to locate anything via Google so I figured I would repost my experience here to hopefully save some people from wasting lots of money for an inferior service..

Back in 2004 I purchased a Galaxy 99 from this place and the guy told me I needed to have him retune the radio. After the retune I took it to my truck and got a radio check and everybody told me I was...

So...both on my old CB (cobra 19ultra 3) and now on my Galaxy 979F...the CB will sometimes randomly cut off....after a while, I can turn it back on again...but it's really annoying. My SWR is 1.1 on ch1, and 1.3 on Ch 40. I'm running a NMO Wilson 5000 antenna. My power leads are going straight from my battery on both positive and negative.

Any ideas?

Picked up a stalker and it needs some help. Ive searched the web and the forum but haven't come up with anything for the 202. It has the pc176bd board with the 858 chip, is it possible to cross reference it to a radio with the same board to get it tuned up and aligned? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hello everyone.

I have a President Mckinley export CB radio with the Uniden PC-893 board (identical to the Teaberry Stalker 9 Fdx) with AM-FM-SSB modes. I would like to make the direct injection modification to improve audio quality. I have a Behringer mixer with mic compressor, a Samson mic, and a passive box (impedance match).

I have been reading in the forum about direct audio injection in similar CB radios, in particular to the Cobra 148gtl. It seems that in the circuit layout of this...

Looking online for odds and ends, I found a "Sparkomatic CB-10 Converter"
My guess is this device allows you to listen to CB on a standard AM car radio?

Two different types of coax on the same setup?

So...would there be any downside to running rg8x on the "high side" of a linear amplifier going to the antenna and using rg58 on the "low side" to the radio where there is less power going through it?

Ideally I'll have enough rg8x to do both sides....but jic...I thought I would ask.

We are talking about run of less than 30 feet total.

Galaxy DX 959 works as it should, and is very loud. Extra channels installed. Has the usual wear, but works flawlessly. $180 shipped. Very loud audio.

President HR 2510 in very nice shape for it's age. Has the CB channels, however, this unit DOES NOT have the Chipswitch mod. $110 shipped.

Pin 6 is dc voltage but unused. No capacitor in mic. How does this thing work? Excuse my ignorance, but dynamic mics have always been my thing. Electrets are new to me.
