Hey guys, I need some advice. I have been running my X-Force 600HD with my Stryker 955 for about a year now. The other day I was talking on it on side band and noticed the output power disappeared. I unkeyed real quick and went over to the amp shelf and smelled an electrical smell. I unplugged it and popped the cover off. The smell seemed to be one of the transistors. Thinking about an End Fed Half Wave for my HOA-regulation-skirting antenna. I’ll be able to make it mostly invisible, 32’ or so off the ground, and with about 30 or so feet of feedline to the shack.

My questions:

1. Anyone deal with Balun Designs?

I have a Brute 75. How do you set the tuner that hooks to the fq coil? I was told one time not to turn it it had something to do with the fq. Mine is not meshed at all, so what do you use to set it? Jim/238

2 yaesu ftm 7250 dr radios,1 is problem child

Got a pair. First 1 would not accept manual programming. I called yaesu customer service. He said hard reset. I had to reset it 3 times before it accepted progrmming.
It worked ok.
Ordered number 2 radio because i wanted a dual bnd in my pickup. Used dual band prices are crazy,new 7250 can be bought cheeper with 3 year warrenty.
First 1 developed a clip in audio.
Called yaesu,must ship mic back for replacement.
Only bad problem but glad its under warrenty

I'm not familiar with the Stryker flavors and after getting this little loud fella I've got a few questions. The dk on low is about 2.5 watts with high being almost 13 watts. I'm ignorant to this chassis but I'm thinking that's a little hot for high. This is a 520 version. If it were a ranger chassis I could get the service manual/schematic etc. but aside from a bunch of opinions in google searches I can find nothing. I naturally want to turn it down to about 10 on higher but without a...

Why is it that all the major HF transceiver manufacturers set the AM modulation level so low in their radios?
Is 100% AM modulation not the standard in AM broadcasting?

Holidays have came and gone, and I need to get serious about getting an antenna analyzer!

Looking at the MFJ-259D. I’m wanting something that works beyond 30mhz...for future plans.

Any thoughts?
